The steam sterilization is a simple, advantageous and widely used method in the fight against bacteria, fungi, viruses and even spores. A steam sterilizer, commonly called an autoclave, uses steam heated to 250–275 °F under pressure. With the air removed from the autoclave, steam sterilization combines temperature, pressure and time to reach decontamination.
Compared to dry heat sterilization, steam proves to be not only faster but also more efficient in inactivating all resistant bacterial spores! Only reaching temperatures of 250 degrees Fahrenheit upwards, ensures that spores are definitely eliminated – it has been proved that spores still survive 212 degrees Fahrenheit, the temperature of boiling water.
Typical sterilization cycles (at 269-275°F) take 3-4 minutes exposure time, also depending on the surface of the objects. By manipulating any of the three parameters (time, temperature or pressure), autoclaves guarantee aseptic objects ready to be reused in the most demanding sectors and applications, such as the medical and pharmaceutical branches as well as in any food and beverage processing industry. Furthermore, a steam cycle is monitored mechanically, chemically and biologically.
Steam sterilization is fast, efficient but also safe and easy to control. Apart from autoclaves, steam allows for in-situ sterilization of tanks, filters, filling lines, KEG filling machines etc. CERTUSS ensures rapid generation and continuously high quality of steam, which contributes to cost-efficient and rigorous CIP to every brewery size.
While autoclaves solely utilize steam to disinfect, other types of sterilizers can use chemicals, high pressure, filtration, irritation, or a combination of these methods to eliminate living organisms. CERTUSS is the reliable supplier of steam generation whether you decide for direct steam sterilization or you need to generate steam for other sterilizing methods as well!
CERTUSS is your trusted partner in the battle against bacteria, germs, dust mites, viruses and micro-organisms which could compromise your product quality and even prove life-threatening for your business. We cooperate with our local partners and the engineering firms or suppliers of brewery equipment and follow each project in all their steps from planning until commissioning. We support you with our experience gained through decades of steam generation for hundreds of breweries in the States, in Europe and East Asia and bring state-of-the-art technology to big food and beverage industries and small craft breweries alike: because the threat to the public health is real no matter where it originates and significant for the safety of all of us. The latest adventure common for the humankind taught us solidarity but also the importance of acting responsibly; there is no responsibility for any stakeholder in the food and beverage processing more critical than high hygiene standards.
CERTUSS is the German manufacturer of +14,000 boilers globally with more than 60 years of history. CERTUSS America LP, established in Philadelphia, PA in 2014, benefits from the long experience of the mother company as well as from the collaboration with an extended network of local representatives offering consultation in designing your steam plant as well as after-sales service and support in close cooperation with us.
Our focus lies on a clearly defined product line, systematic R&D and a team of experienced and trained professionals to produce equipment of highest standards, complying with ASME and UL regulations, as well as ISO 9001-2015 and PED. CERTUSS ensures steam supply of 5-134 BHP/unit and modular design for maximum flexibility: one feed-water skid for up to four boilers, providing for N+1 redundancy with less installed BHP, peak-time coverage and future capacity enlargements. To the main features of the CERTUSS technology belong operational safety, thermal efficiency >87%, a start-up time of 3-5min and the smallest footprint in the market.
